"Anna Nicole is not somebody we consider one of our own, one of the great citizens we're proud of," said the Rev. Marcus Sheffield, pastor of First Baptist Church, who did not know Smith. "If people connect her with what Mexia is, I'm not proud of that."
You know what? Ok, so Anna wasn't a model citizen. Ok, like this Pastor is slamming Anna, next week we'll hear about this same Pastor confessing to his congregation his sexual exploits with animals. Who does he think he is? Like he's some kind of saint? So much for compassion!

I live not far from Mexia, and I think the townsfolk there should be embarrassed by how they are acting. Anna MADE this town famous...period! They need to step off thier "high and mighty pompous horse" and show some compassion. This is a very poor, rural area and I do remember back when she made it big...everyone bragged that she put Mexia on the map. Yes, I agree she has made some bad choices, but haven't we all? I for one am sick and tired of how some of the holier than art though residents are acting...and lest we not forget, it has been a media circus here since the tragedy...and with all the journalists and news people around, thier money has been spent in this town...thus supporting the local economy. A bunch of hypocrites if you ask me, and I am glad I am in a neighboring town...and many of these townsfolk really should look into thier own backyard before casting stones.

I agree with you completely. This reverend had no right putting Anna down, someone he does not even know. All that really matters is Anna got out of this "one horse town" and did something with her life (in the beginning) and made something of herself. She could have in my opinion gone alot further with her life....but sometimes when you get caught up in the spotlight and all of a sudden everyone wants to be your friend it can take it's toll. I feel for her...I miss her and I liked her. I think she wanted to be loved and liked, something she didn't hear or recieve from her own family until bam one day she is a star and they all come running. I can understand Anna cutting the ties with her own mother. And as for her mother going to the Bahamas to see her granddaughter out of concern for the child is total BS...it to me isnt for the baby....it's because of what that baby may be worth...and if she thinks she will gain any type of custody she can forget it. She needed to be more than just an outsider voicing her opinion to her daughter....if she really cared she would have done so much more....I have seen her mother on a few interviews since Anna's death and I have yet to see her shed a tear...What a shame...I pray she is at peace and with the real true love of her life...and best friend....her son Daniel. I know she is looking down and watching over her little angel left her on earth.

Even though Anna Nicole is no Rosa Parks, this man shouldn't be ashamed of her. If the article says that he didn't even know her, then he's just looking for his fifteen minutes of fame.

She hasn't done anything absolutely wonderful to the society, has she? She's nothing close to Angelina Jolie, who's better from some views. Anna Nicole's only contributions and dedications were to drugs, nude photo shoots, lingerie, and publicity. That's pretty much it and I think her death was intended to track every piece of media attention it could get its hands on.

i agree with you.
nobody's perfect. and people think that just because celebrities are on t.v and magazines, that they SHOULD be. so who does your pastor think he is? god? that he can just judge people and say wether they were good or not? well he can't. he didn't know the whole story. he didn't know how anna probably felt when she lost her son or had papparazzi's swarming her house every morning. o_O so i say STUFF IT.

I can't believe that her own hometown is ashamed of her. She may have done some less then amazing things in her life but that's no reason to be ashamed of her. She is a person like everybody else and deserves to be treated like one.
