Mike Rowe on "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel says it's crab fishing in Alaska. From the web page:
"$140,000 for five days work is a job some men would die for. And some men do ...
Forty-foot waves, freezing temperatures and a near 100-percent injury rate. Crab fishing off the Alaskan coast on the icy Bering Sea is one of the world's most dangerous jobs. But it's also one of the most lucrative, offering tens of thousands of dollars for a few days' work."

Well, it seems like one of the most dangerous jobs in the world is that of a coal miner, and they are not paid nearly as well as they should be.
