A friend of mine thinks that Al Gore intentionally released his movie on global warming in the hot summer, rather than at Christmas, so that potential viewers and actual viewers would 'feel' hot and think about the heat during summertime . He also thinks that Al Gore, along with 'Hollywood', orchestrated the whole thing , only to have planned an Academy Award Nomination, coinciding with 'prime time Presidential Candidacy Announcement season'. And, top it off with a possible Nobel Peace Prize, he'd rapidly gain 'relevance' and popularity . Considering that he would've now added to his resume : Former Vice President for 8 Years - Global Warming Poster Boy - Academy Award - Nobel Peace Prize... .. . . . and a few that even the wackjobs won't buy .
At first I didn't know what to make of it .. .. . . you know.. . . Al Gore ? Really gonna try again ? Is he serious ?
But then. . . . . . Could His Theory Be Even Close To Right ? It would gain him popularity.. . .. .

Lynn - You're right, at least logically right . And I gave him the same argument. . . . . almost verbatim . BUT, he did have a point, when he responded, that it won't fool a conservative, but it could fool a LIBERAL !!!!

Gore is an idiot whether he is holding an oscar or peace prize.
Look at what an oscar means these days - diddly.
And Carter has now made it clear to Americans how the peace prize is just one more contaminated popularity contest too.

Al Gore is in no way in the running for a Nobel Peace prize. He is not trying to fix the problem he is pointing fingers half the time. The Nobel peace prize became a JOKE when it was given to Yasser Arafat.

I like Gore a lot more now--he's finally lost that stiff-necked stuffiness. He's funny and relaxed. If he ran for President, he'd probably get all up tight again, so I hope he just keeps doing what he's doing.

But, as for your friend's "conspiracy theory": Isn't that how ALL political candidacies are handled now? They are all manipulated; they all use "negative" ads. Actually, a few "positives" would be nice to hear about, and Gore has lots of positives!!! I'd vote for him, though he isn't really liberal enough for me.

His theory is dead-on. The right wing idiots mocked him for years. But everything he has argued for the past decade is now scientific consensus. Now, suddenly, CEO's are demanding George Bush curb global warming. Evangelicals are up in arms arguing we have to stop global warming. Bush is talking about how we need to address climate change in his STATE OF THE UNION (of course, he didn't bother to talk about the Gulf Coast, which was leveled by a global-warming fueled hurricane, but what do you expect from such an incompetent leader).

Sadly, if these same groups hadn't been putting up roadblocks, and arguing fake science the last decade, we could already be well on our way to solving the problem. Thanks again, red states, for making the world a worse place to live. You guys really rock.

Actually, the film was shown at Sundance in February, then released in early May. Hardly a "hot summer" orchestration.

I'm sure his brain didn't go "OK, release film, get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, get nominated for an Academy Award, run again."

Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth film was released last March. It was released on DVD in September. So I guess that debunks your theory.

It isn't Gore's theory. It's well accepted in the scientific world that global warming is happening and that it may have happened before (and we're still here) in the dim, dark past doesn't change the fact that this time it is being accelorated by Man. We are running out of time to turn the situation around.
The president - kicking-and-screaming - has finally come-around to the realization that there's something going on with 'climate change'..
Politicians are forever invoking the 'do it for the kids' line but this is one issue that really deserves the citation...our kids and our kids' kids. Please excuse the sermon.
Let us bow our heads and...

This whole warming is total crap! The Earth runs in a cycle. warm to cold.

Besides Mt St Helen blew out more pollutants in one blast than man has combined in his whole time on Earth.

Maybe we should fine and put filters on these volcanoes; Maybe outlaw them?

First of all, I would like to say that I know Al Gore personally. We used to be in regular contact. We first met in May of 1991 while I was serving in special forces as part of an international polar expeditionary force. He was along for the ride with a 5 member Congressional contingency as well as numerous brass from the Pentagon. Lt. Dan is wrong about Al Gore. Gore is an incredibly smart man and to underestimate him would be wrong to do.

Every coin has two sides as does this one. Al Gore lost the Presidency in 2000 for one simple reason. He failed to carry his homestate of Tennessee. Simply put, the people who knew him best voted for his opponent.

Had he won Tennessee then the liberals wouldn't have to still be whining about Florida and "how Bush stole the election" to this day. Al Gore no longer sends me Christmas cards but I can live without them. It would be safe to say that his attitude about his relationship with me changed when I spoke out publicly as to why he lost in 2000. What you have heard here is merely the tip of the iceberg regarding those comments.

Romare is right about one thing. And I said this before the epilepsy over election 2000 had been resolved. Al Gore will run for President again in 2008. Now I may be proven wrong. Time will tell. But 08 is an open election and it's entirely up for grabs.

Onto global warming. And this is where Al and I stand in opposition to each other. Show me one single chain of evidence that anything mankind is doing that causes global warming? Where's the chain of evidence? In a court of law Al Gore would lose. In a scientific lab Al Gore would lose. If he should run in 2008 Al Gore would lose. The same can be said for the theory of evolution. There is no chain of scientific evidence that substantiates either of these claims.

There is simply no chain of scientific evidence that anything mankind is doing is producing global warming. It's simply, like all of liberalism, and what's become of convservatism, another tactic to lead the public to misperceptions in hopes that enough will vote for liberalism to then allow that liberalism to take away their freedoms and liberties.

If you haven't ordered the movie Freedom To Fascism it's well worth the investment. Your future freedom depends on you being informed and becoming a Patriot by informing and leading others. Most Americans will stand up for themselves if they know the truth and are given an option.

You can find this movie at http://www.freedomtofascism.com/ and you can contact Congressman Ron Paul at http://www.house.gov/paul/contact.shtml to urge him to run for President. Again, this is only the tip of the iceberg and your very freedom counts on you taking action. All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do absolutely nothing.

Begin informing yourself and others.

This is the TAT Offensive: Take Action Today.

I will admit the same thing crossed my mind. As soon as it started getting cold.

They will probably give him the nomination if he runs, too. They still think that election was stolen.
