So many good books are out of print and probably gone forever! Which ones would you like back in the stores? (I'm still looking for my grandmas cook book from Virgina Kitchen)

When I was little, there was this book I loved called Muddigush, which was about playing in the mud and it rhymed, going "Squashy muck squicky muck squishy gushy muddigush!" or something close to that. I went to buy a copy for an aunt who had a baby, and found out that they stopped printing it! Made me very sad...glad I've still got a copy around here.

The Great Brain Series by John D. Fitzgerald... I can buy them used, but they can get expensive, not to mention it's a pain for books that are SO beneficial to any kid, in my opinion. They were some of the funniest, smartest kids' novels I ever read.

Besides that, it'd be nice if all the back catalogues of a lot of classic authors were still available--I find, especially with foreign authors, not all of their books are commonly in print (at least in a language I can read, anyway).

Leopold von Sacher-Masoch wrote a book about Elizabeth Bathory, so I hear, but I can't find the book in English at all.

My grandmother also wrote, she wrote many wonderful children's books back in the 50's and 60's. a whole series about "Indian Two Feet" and "Chicken Little Count To Ten" and one in particular that I don't have a copy of, "The Farmer's Three Fives", which gave multiplication a real-life spin. Her name was Margaret Friskey. I loved her a lot.

There are lots of childrens books that are no longer in print.
one that comes to mind is that of the "Shoes" books for girls.. Ballet Shoes, Theatre Shoes, Circus Shoes..they were really fun.
As well, I have not seen any of Carol Ryrie Brink's books in a very long time..even in a library. Caddie Woodlawn and a few others she wrote were very good "girl" books as well.

One about the Sahara desert and north Africa that came out about 1960 (?) by James Wellard. Fascinating stuff, it was. I can't remember the title now, but it wasn't "The Great Sahara" which I've got.
