Take a papertowel and fold it until it is about 2 inches wide, then pour some bleach on it. The papertowl will absorb the bleach and soak the mildew/scum and remove it. Leave it on for atleast 20 minutes. Works for me!

Use Clorox Cleanup solution according to instructions. Wear old clothes (or no clothes), gloves and make sure you open your windows. Apply the solution to your entire shower and allow it to sit for about 10 min. Then be sure to flush it all away with clear water. Use enough water to flush it completely past your housepipes into the city sewer pipes under the street, even. The clorox is hard on housepipes (I know from sad experience).

MOISTURE IS THE PROBLEM: If grout is black, it won't turn white overnight, possibly never. Rinse and dry your shower after each use. Keep a squeegie in the shower and a clean large bathtowel to wipe down shower in the bathroom. Squeegie, then wipe the walls, door and floors and fixtures dry after each shower. Once a week, do the clorox treatment. The mold will lighten but if it's established itself there for awhile, the only way to completely remove it is to have the shower re-grouted. You will soon see that it's only possible to quickly and completely remove grout mold that is recently formed.

I retired July 2005 and that was when I really began my attack on the shower mold. I even used the portable steamer on it daily. In the end, I realized the best thing was to make sure the shower stall is dry if not in use. The mold doesn't like a dry shower. It helps that my son changed his shower habit to once a day. Personally, I have always preferred to bathe in the tub.

Scrubbing Bubbles and a scrubber that has a rough back as long as the shower isn't fiberglass you are ok. Otherwise, if its a glass one you good too go!

Lysol makes a mildew remover, if you don't want to use either of those you can use Vinegar and warm water.

Good Luck!

Pure bleach - but be VERY careful - wear rubber gloves and have plenty of ventilation... that stuff is nasty, but it will kill the mildew. You will have to scrub, possibly with a much tougher brush, or even one of those powered-scrubbers.

I'll assume you mean soap scum, use bleach with a mixture of water, let it soak about 10-15 min. and scrub, it will come off. If it is really bad, use more bleach less water, and let it sit a little longer.
