me and my feance are going to apply for food stamps but we make 500 more than what is allowed. but are morgage is almost a 1,000 a month and are utiltys are 400 a month. his pay check is 900 every two weeks. and it all goes to the morgage. and then the next pay check pays for the utilitys and the over drafts fee. and then were left with almost no money for the food for a month. and dog food. i just think this is unfair. anyone else have a problem like this? or had one? no answers where all your doing is griping.

That's sad, but none of your bills are taken into consideration. Try to find some Angel Food Ministries in your area. They have food that you can get very inexpensive and it is good. There are also churches that give food to families. Check around your area and see if you can something like that. Good luck.

im in the state of PA and for a family of 5 you can only make 500 a month to receive cash assistance. It is hard. maybe you can check with a local food bank to help with the food, or id you guys have children the WIC program. there are others .. red cross, cathlioc charities...but the ultimate goal is probably for you two to sit down and do a budget, do you spend money like going out to eat, ordering in food? renting movies? that is all money that could be used to your bills. and once in a while, get those things as a treat. a 1000 a month mortgage is a lot on my end, maybe you could think of re-financing, or finding something cheaper it is really hard and you two have to work together. ... another suggestion is to borrow money from a family member or friend..but make sure you get it in writing that it is a loan so they know that you will pay them back. just a few thoughts good luck.

well- maybe you can do what me and many others like me do to make ends meet- work 2 jobs.cut out all unnecessary stuff. dont have animals if you cant afford to feed yourself. i went for 7 years after my husband left me before i could get a computer and internet. and i have been working 2 jobs during that whole time.but,i could not justify the expense of a computer and internet until i could safely pay all my other bills.you have to make tough sacrifices in life before you ask for taxpayers to feed you. i dont mean to sound harsh, but you should not complain about this unless you are doing absolutely everything in your power to stand on your own.many people live in rented, low payment housing because thats all they can afford. it may not be nice, but they know that its all their budget allows. you are probably young. you have to start out with little, and over the years you work and acquire more. dont wallow over the unfairness of it, just work hard and be thankful.,and God will bless you.

Wow... its Fiance, mortgage, OUR, utilities....

ok i just had to get that off of my mind because i can tolerate typos but thats just ridiculous..

Well, amost no money is better than no money....and its fair..maybe you should get a job. some people really nee dfood stamps. not you..If youre left with no money after paying a mortgage then maybe you shouldnt have a house? a house shuold make you feel secure and proud and accomplished...not broke, upset, and applying for food stamps. think about it

Do you work? If not, you should get a job to help out. I agree it can be tough to make ends meet. Try cutting out unnecessary bills like cable or internet. It'll help a lot. Also, don't do any unnecessary spending like going out to eat or to movies. It sounds boring, but it's a lot better than getting foreclosed on or having your heat shut off.
