I am currently 2 days overdue. On Friday I had my membrances stripped, and there was a lot of blood that day, which my doc told me was very normal. I also had a lot of cramping, but each time my cervix has been manipulated I have had cramping. The cramping is still going on, and is extremely painful. I lost my mucous plug last week (only white mucous) and today had a lot more mucousy discharge that was *slightly* pink (assuming this is bloody show). I was only dialted to 2cm and 80% effaced on Friday. I have already been to L&D three times in pre-labor and been sent home due to know cervical change. I have been having contractions here and there all day today (nothing regular) but this abdominal cramping is intense. I have never had menstrual cramps, so I am not used to this at all. This is my first baby, so I am not sure what to expect. I have an induction scheduled for Tuesday night, do you experienced mothers think my baby will come before this?

Probably not; I didn't go into labor on my own either, and had all the same symptoms you are having. Induction isn't that bad, and you will probably go really fast being overdue already. Good luck to you.

General rule of thumb is that labor will start within 24-48 hours of starting to lose the mucus plug. As for contractions, you should be feeling them either very low in the front or low in the back. As time goes by, they will get longer, stronger and closer together, this is true labor. False labor, the contracts don't change and will stay the same or even stop after a while. If your water breaks then let you doctor know as he will probably want you in the hospital.

The mucus plug and the bloody show are not the same thing. Usually the mucus plug comes out first, just like you described. It generally is not all at once, but more in pieces (like a heavy discharge) and chunks. And that is probably what you are experiencing now, the mucus plug coming out. If you are wiping and getting strings of blood (like almost period-like) and it is continuing for a while, you could be having the bloody show. The mucus plug falls out so your cervix can start to dilate (often between 35 and 40 weeks) and the bloody show is your cervix actually opening with contractions (whether you feel them or not). If you are having your bloody show, labor is around the corner. I got mine on Sunday morning with some cramping in my lower abdomen and delivered my son on Tuesday afternoon. Generally labor is within 72 hours of the bloody show.

2 days overdue is not long in my experience and with my friends most went on average 6 days overdue their first pregnancy with your membranes stripped i think you'll probably go within about 24 hours from now i had contractions for more than 24 hours before i delivered my son they were irregular all day and then at nite they started happening more and more often i also had a very active day and went on a bumpy car ride if they are there do all the walking you can seeing as you are most of the way but most of all sleep as much as possible you'll need your rest
and unless you need to be induced i wouldn't do it some doctors like to since they can schedule it but my sister got induced with her first child and the pain goes from 0-60 in no time flat with her second she did it all naturally bc her pain built up gradually so its much easier to cope with plus its more stressful for the baby i know you are anious but just give ur little one time they'll be much happier and when your baby is the one thats not crying or screaming in the hospital you'll be happy

It is possible for the baby to come sooner than Tuesday. You should keep busy and remember to eat. If you happen to have to go to the hospital have a plate of pasta before you go it could be a while before you can eat again.
My first pregnancy my water broke and I went into labour no problem. No one never knows what to expect with their first pregnancy hun every woman is different.
Time your contractions if thats what your cramping is. Good luck!

Time the contractions. If they are regular, and if they get closer together, go to the er tonight. Better to be safe than sorry!!! Your body is really getting ready. Walk around and see if it increases the contractions. If they are steady and regular for an hour, go to the er! So long as your contrations are steady, they may give you pictocian sooner than tuesday, since your body is 'trying' to start labor. Good luck, honeY!!!! I sure miss those days!!

it is a toss up as to whether the baby will come before Tuesday but induction is not too bad. It just makes the contractions more intense and it can definitely speed up the process.
I had to be induced because my son gave a mighty kick early one morning and my water broke. Pitocin, which is commonly used to induce labor helped my labor along quite quickly. Good luck to you, have a safe delivery and welcome to motherhood

I'm with misskenjr. My mom always told me and my sisters to walk. Climb up and down small stairs if possible. If the labor was false it quit. If not, it got more regular. It always worked for us. Hope this helps.

Very possible, but it is hard to know. Induction is easy and you will go quickly after that.
