but everyone in the town we live in thinks I'm a horrrible person because I know nothing of the accident or about her condition. i guess they would feel better it had been me. For years I was the blame either for not making enough money, not wanting anything to do with her, ect. Now i guess this is my fault too, even though we have been divorced for 4 years and she has caused me NOTHING but grief, ruined my credit and constantly harassed me. I'm all of a sudden suppose to care?!?

I think if I found myself in the same situation, I'd simply tell the haters that when she left me, she told me to stop caring for her.

The most loving thing I can do is respect her wishes. I wish my ex-wife no harm. But I don't really care either way how her life goes on without me.

I would greve with my daughter if she lost her mother, but my wife was gone a long time ago, replaced by the alien that took over her body when she had her affair.

Don't feel like you are the only guy with this problem.I have to deal with it also.If my ex has some kind of drama in her life the ex in laws always ask me if I know about it or what do I think. My usual response is "why should I care,it's none of my business".
Then the responses they have are like "Well I thought you would want to know or want to talk to her about it.
I haven't figured it out but I sometimes think that people really expect me to jump and run whenever she has a crisis in her life.

Screw what other people think! She is your ex and if they are to stupid to realize that she is none of your concern then thats there problem not yours. I just divorced my wife for cheating and i live in a veery small town so im sure i will be in your shoes in no time!

Tell them you do care, you're thinking of buying candles so they can all hold a candle vigil for her and NEVER leave her side until she's dismissed from the hospital. Ask how may are going to volunteer right now so you can buy them a candle.

I am a woman and I am telling you there is something seriously wrong with this situation. She is your ex-wife for a reason and most exes do not remain friends. If something happened to my ex-husband it would have no effect on me, however I would be concerned and sad for my children, but only because he is their father. Tell them to bug off...it's none of their business anyway.

no u are not suppose to care, she hurt u and caused u grief, just normal not to care one way or the other, u may just be trying to protect your self worth and ego by saying u don't care one way or the other. you have probably built up a wall to protect your heart from hurt.

She hasn't been a part of your life for 4 years, so why would people expect you to be of great concerns for her now. I wouldn't let it bother me and I would tell people when they asked that we have been divorced for years now and there is no reason for me to know anything about her.

you dont need to care but she was your wife and there was love

want the same kara to befall you, and it will at one time or
