Yes, very big if's, but also, while pushing for the Habitat homes he would probably be letting foreign policy go nowhere fast. You have to have balance. He was good at domestic things, and still is, but he could not keep us safe from without our borders.

We ALREADY tried that and Jimmy was an abject failure. Inflation rates were approaching 20%. He claimed to have been attacked by a rabbit. Jimmy told the people of Poland that he want to do something obscene to them-well, actually his interpreter told them that. Jimmy failed to protect our ally and then failed to protect our Foreign Service professionals, by allowing a group of students in Iran to violate our embassy and take hostages which they held until Ronald Reagan was inaugurated.
Jimmy lusted after women and wasn't competent enough to get anything done.
I am having trouble with your numbers. When I divide 130,000,000,000 by 100,000 I get 1.3million per duplex. I don't think you meant that, because anyone could build them for that amount. Maybe you meant a million duplexes, which would be $130,000 for a duplex. That seems to be more in line. But who would live in them? Where would you build them? Public housing has already been tried and it FAILED. It always fails. If you and Jimmy keep trying the same old failed experiment and expecting different results, then you BOTH must be insane!

The poor would suffer most. While he does great work volunteering his time for this cause, if he got the govt to require that tax dollars be used for this he would create a huge govt beuracracy that Katrina style does very little to help anyone and a great deal to wast money. The federal govt is so severly massive and corrupt that it is incapable of helping the poor. The poor needs businesses to provide them with jobs where they can learn skills to serve others and advance to earn more in order to rent or buy a nice home. Capitalism is the answer but tragically very few understand that, so the poor suffer.

sweet n sour, if he was good at domestic problems, why did we have double digit interest rates, unemployment and inflation?
Where was the gas?
Carter was an abomination and still is.
I wouldn't trust him with a penny let alone 130 billion

Here in Florida, they are finding that recipients of Habitat for Humanity sold their free homes, spent the money like there was no tomorrow, and then ended up renting a dump again. I kid you not when I report that illegal immigrants are paying rent to some greedy landlord who allows them to sleep wall to wall along the floors of Habitat homes. Disgusting.

Well, it couldn't happen, but I'd rather have billions going into low-cost housing than floating off into thin air in Iraq.
