I don't usually associate the words "light" and "jam," but The Innocence Mission's CDs "Umbrella" and "Glow" are very creative and have some of the best music made from a Christ centered world view that I've ever heard.

If you don't know of the band The Waiting, especially their "Blue Belly Sky" CD, do yourself a favor and look into it.

Others that might fit are:
Rich Mullins, Third Day, The Newsboys, and the David Crowder Band.

My most favorite Christian bands are Daniel Amos and The 77s. They have some light stuff and the 77s do get into some jams. I'd recommend "Kalhoun," "Motorcycle" and "Darn Floor, Big Bite" by Daniel Amos (aka DA), and "Pray Naked" and "Drowning With Land in Sight" by the 77s.

There are so many....MercyMe, TobyMac, Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk, The News Boys, Switch Foot, David Crowder Band, Petra, and many more. Then are so many single artists like Chris Tomlin, Jeremy Camp, Todd Agnew, Michael W. Smith, David Bush, Daniel Eric Groves, and so many more. Maybe you should call up or log onto your local Christian radio station and they can also give you some names of bands and recording artists. They can also give you the top 10 play list. Happy Jamming!! :-)

Hell's Bells by AC/DC, Willy the Pimp by Frank Zappa, Boobs-a-lot and Dirty Old Man by the Fugs, I could go on and on..................Start with those, Pal!

Then there's Superlungs (My Supergirl) by Terry Reid, Piece o' my Heart by Big Brother & the Holding Company, ***** by the Stones...

Tell you something kid, I'm a musician, have been all my life, and that's a considerable amount of time. Know what a lot of these Christian Rock musicians tell me? They just take any love song and insert Jesus, or My Lord, etc. for Baby, Donna, etc. Why? The gigs are paying money, and the other ones aren't. I'm no expert, but that seems kind of blasphemous to me...so does calling yourself John 3:16. As well as sounding TOTALLY pretentious, rather than coming off pious like you wanted to. No insult; just food for thought.

(they're extra mainstream now, yet they nevertheless have a stable message), thirty 8th Parallel (they simply made one album some years in the past, besides the indisputable fact that that is quite stable).
