And although i had fun, i didnt actually have a great conversation with any males. This depressed me somewhat, and i was wondering, are there actually any males under the age of 20 that appreciate a good and interesting conversation, or is it all about the race to pick up?

It's all about the pick up

There are guys who are interested in conversation, but you won't usually find them at parties. Your best bet is to try to find some other way to meet people - join social groups or clubs, for example. I know someone who met a great guy at a bookstore. They were both looking for the same book and got into a discussion about authors they both liked.

There probally are some males who would appreciate a good conversation. You just have to find some intelligent down to earth ones [good luck]. You could try a coffee shop or internet cafe. I'm not really sure.

good luck <3

a party's purpose is to let loose of your inhibitions and have fun. to most people this is to get somebody to do it with. you can't be so hypocritical as to believe that the priority for humans is not to reproduce, but to have intelligent conversations at a a party. esp, under 20s. self deception is not cute.

Parties are not the place for good conversation. You'll meet someone, but not at a party/bar. etc. It's all just about sex there.

i never went to those teenage parties. wasn't part of the popular crowd i guess. but yah, it seems most teen guys are only interested in casual sex.. and since most girls seem to go along, i guess it's mutual..

parties aren't the greatest place to have intellectual conversations. people are usually drinking and doing drugs and they are usually horny.. plus they wanna impress their friends by picking up and making out in front of others.. not really my cup of tea..

I find it difficult to have any conversation in a party environment. It's just too loud and distracting. Talk to people when they are by themselves. Then their behavior won't be influenced by their peers, and you will have each other's full attention.

There's someone out there for you, just be patient. (usually those good ones are the ones that are taken!)

You need to look for the more intellectual type. Brainiacs are rare - straight or gay.
