Have you ever heard of the great depression? Lets just say that the name is almost self explanitory, it was quite depressing. In terms of fashion, burlap potato sacks were all the rage. Regarding the pop culture of the time,suicide and bread lines were the ipod's of the day. As for music, nothing quite says cultural sensitivity and soul like listening to Al Jolsen sing in blackface. If you really want to know what it was like either read the link below or visit a senior citizens home. There are always a lot of old people who would love to talk to you about how things used to be.

my grandpa said they got a new car every year.

I guess the poor stayed poor, the middle class got poor and the rich stayed rich.
