The thing is you can't tell if it is strep until you see a Dr. They may treat you just in case though more and more they aren't doing that because of the overuse of antibiotics. So, no it won't go away if you do have it. Did you have a headache or does it feel like glass when you swallow or do you have white spots in your throat? Usually you have one of these symptoms but not always. The fever can be because you have the bug or tonsilitis. So, if you have a clinic you may want to go there and get care to not spread it or end up with scarlett fever which can cause rheumatic fever and a heart murmurr. That is why strep is so bad. I know, I had both and have the heart murmurr from childhood. So, it really is a call for you to make. I haven't had it since. If you have and recognize the symptoms in yourself you would be the best to judge. Gargle in salt water and drink hot liquids to relieve the pain, honey in hot water is good too. I wish you luck. If you have no ins. and a low income go to the ER and apply for aide through the hospital or to a clinic with a sliding fee.

You need to go to the doctor because you aren't sure if you even have strep throat. A culture must be taken for the physician to look at the bacteria sample to determine what your ailment is. No strep cannot be healed by itself, only sore throats.

Here's the difference..
Not all sore throats are step throats. Most episodes of sore throat - which can be accompanied by a runny nose, cough, hoarseness, and red eyes - are caused by viruses. Sore throats usually clear up on their own without requiring medical treatment.

If you have strep throat, you will start to develop other symptoms within about 3 days. Those symptoms can include:

red and white patches in the throat
difficulty swallowing
tender or swollen glands (lymph nodes) in the neck
red and enlarged tonsils
headache
lower stomach pain
fever
general discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling
loss of appetite and nausea
rash

Strep is contagious and must be treated with antibiotics for 10 days. If not treated you will remain contagious for 21 days or as long as symptoms remain at their most severe. The longer you go without treatment your illness can and will develop into something more serious like...rheumatic fever (which can cause permanent damage to the heart), scarlet fever, blood infections, or kidney disease.

Depends on what kind of strep. You should get tested, if you haven't already, for Group A strep. This strain needs to be properly taken care of with antibiotics or it can lead to other, more serious, health problems. If it's not Group A, I wouldn't take anything unless you are very ill. Everything else should clear up on it's own. :) Good luck, I hope you feel better!

Strep throat is diagnosed by taking a culture from swabbing the back of the throat. If it is a strep infection, it will require treatment with an antibiotic in order to kill the bacteria. Strep is very infectious, so contact with others should be limited for a day or so after beginning the treatment. Wash your hands OFTEN, and , to protect others, keep hand-to-hand contact to a minimum as well. (Inform them of your condition so they too may be careful about washing their hands, too. If left untreated, strep may cause Rheumatic Fever, which can seriously damage the heart. It's nothing to fool around witih; go see your doctor.

Try out some home remedies. If it does not get better may you are going for a viral infection. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

No, it is a very dangerous illness. It can lead to heart problems and an ear infection can lead to a hearing loss. See a Dr. right away.
