hmm..I am not a drummer, but I'll tell you about one of my favorites. Do you know The Band? Well, the drummer's name is Levon Helm. To me, he is amazing. Not only does he play the drums, he is also the lead singer in many of the songs. So, he plays and sings at the same time. I know a few other drummer do that, but nobody compares to him. His voice even seems to be stronger when he's playing. Watch the Last Waltz and you will see.

drummer's stage presence? your the most visual guy on stage already. Not only are u the most animated of all instruments but you play an instrument that takes up 2/3 of the bands stage space. The only way u can have more stage presence is throw a stick and catch it or work out a gut busting solo that puts all eyes on u. That way your other band mates can take a breather while u bring down the house. Check out Dino Danielle on you tube u can't get more stage presence then that.

My intensity. I like changing things up and making the audience aware that there is an individual behind the kit. You're not always noticed. Stand up once in a while, particularly at the end of songs and get some attention. I find that works and the crowd in the front usually get "giraffe necks" 'cause they want to see what the hell you're up to.

Play hard... or don't play at all!

Eric Delaney, was a band leader in the late 1950`s he was also a fabulous drummer and he had several fingers missing as well ! He made an instrumental recording of "Oranges and Lemons" based on the nursery rhyme, which had a drum solo that lasted six minutes! I think it has just been released on CD.

Get your hands on some footage of Clem Burke from Blondie. He is absolutely AMAZING, and has a knack for stealing the show at times - tough to do with this Debbie Harry in front of you.
