Seriously, do you think everyone is going to stop having babies or that men will stop liking women? Um, yeah...we'll all turn gay if we allow gays to marry? What? Please no religious answers- I am not a Christian so why should I follow/care about your beliefs?

PEOPLE- I am straight !! Love the women (I'd get more graphic but...) Why do you assume I'm gay? A straight person can't defend gay marriage?

Being a woman of "a certain age" and raised through the 40's, 50's and beyond, I can recall a time when they would arrest gay people - just for being gay or suspected of it.
Believe it or not, it is getting better for our gay and lesbian citizens.... They can actually live in the life, in your and my neighborhood - which they couldn't do before. In some states, they can adopt children or have children - in the past, children were taken away from them..
It is a very slow progress. So many people are so fearful that they come up with all sorts of reasons why two people of the same sex shouldn't have the same marriage rights as others. Some use "Christianity" or other religion as their defense, some use the "cost" of supporting same-sex marriage as a defense and many other excuses. The fact is, a hefty portion of our population is gay or lesbian and they are in all professions; they are teaching children, running corporations, legislating in government, waiting on tables. I firmly believe that, in another 15-20 years, there will be no gay issue. People will just be people; marriage will just be marriage. Only patience and perseverance is needed.

It would not fairly. Marriage has replaced from it is unique which ability besides. Marriage is now no longer a non secular employer, that's in simple terms a manner for a pair to tutor their love for one yet another. of course there are non secular zealots who will nonetheless no longer settle for that 2 human beings of the comparable intercourse could be married interior the eyes of god. Why does this rely? God is, on a daily basis being proved further and extra to be a fallacy, non secular anyone is threatened via something that threatens their status quo. via fact they are going to the two would desire to settle for they're incorrect, or substitute issues of their faith to artwork with the way the international certainly is. Marriage would desire to be allowed for any 2 people who love one yet another, there can not be in basic terms without delay marriage, this is greater insulting than comparable intercourse marriage. that would desire to then be like asserting "Love isn't sufficient, some human beings's loves at the instant are not worth to be acknowledged".

Who said heterosexual marriages feel threatened by gay marriage? The only ones I know that say that are gays.
I'm a married heterosexual and don't give a hoot if marriage is legal for gays or not. I have a gay Niece, we don't push our choices on each other and get along great. What I don't like is the lies some gays come up with to get sympathy for their cause, like, heterosexuals are mean spirited, heterosexuals feel threatened, heterosexuals this and that. Their constant accusations is on my last nerve.

Simple... it means you get health benefits and tax breaks meant for traditionally married couples. There isn't enough money to go around. I'm not saying you don't have the right to those benefits but that is a threat to traditionally married couples perhaps you didn't think of. By the way, I'm not gay, and a Christian and God created all people. Don't assume all Christians stand on the same side here.

That's basically my thoughts on the subject. I'm heterosexual, but I don't have an issue with gay marriage. It's not going to have any negative repercussions for my own marriage, and I can't ever see myself turning gay for any reason, let alone because of someone else's marriage. (and we all know that a person that is truly gay doesn't just choose to become that way, or suddenly turn gay anyway) Just my opinion though.

If you are gay, you can't think or feel the same as a straight person. What seems normal to you is not normal to us. I personally couldn't give a fiddlers fart if gays get married or not.
But, the fact remains, as long as they call it NORMAL MARRIAGE & GAY MARRIAGE there will always be a difference. And I think the majority, and the ability to procreate in a normal manner...will rule. Straight people can coexist with gays, but they will not be put on the same shelf, when it comes to marriage.

I am married, and I would like to assure you that Gay marriage doesn't threaten my marriage in one little bit. I think gay marriage is a wonderful thing and that having it may strengthen some relationships. I wish you happiness and hope that your plans for marriage will come to fruition and hope all those nay saying bigots out there will begin to see the gay community as the people they ar, good, bad and normal.

it doesn't threaten anyone pre-existing marriage.
I had my gov. teacher pull me aside and tell me his feelings on the matter. he's married with a little girl (who is super cute) and said he doesn't get this argument. if gay marriage is legalized, he knows he won't leave his wife. and she's not concerned about that either

As the behaviour is normalized, there is no reason that the behaviour will not become more common in society. So yes, I do believe that normalizing homosexuality, which occurs if our society were to change the definition of marriage to accomodate this behaviour, may create more homosexuals.
The concept isn't already straight people will turn...it's that the next generation growing up being told "homosexuality is equal to heterosexuality". If you have a homosexual thought and think it's equivalent to a heterosexual thought...why wouldn't you act on the impulse? At least in today's society some people try to control themselves.
Also...most people wouldn't know a person was a homosexual unless they "came out". Saying to the world that you are gay and then saying "why are you in my bedroom" is a bid foolish...you just invited us in.

50% divorce rate, I think? I don't think it will threaten marriage more than King Henry of England did. If you don't want to call it marriage and you don't want it to happen in your church, fine, but give then the same legal rights...........isn't that American?
