Either we don't have a soul and "nothing" happens when we die or nothing is real and a "soul" isn't real either.

The body is the covering of the soul and the soul in the body is the living entity in this body. If the body dies the soul goes out of the body and you can see this also in the eyes of a dead body that there is no soul in it anymore. We also say often that the eyes are the window to the soul.
The soul itself goes into the other world, beyond or afterlife which is of the same ethereal substance than the soul is.
As the soul and the ethereal has a totally different quality then the material world this realities will also never be totally able to be proved with material devices.

I believe the soul is the "essence" of who we are, it cannot be weighed or measured by any means that we have available at this moment in time, however it is real. When I die, if I have acheived some success in realizing who I am, and what my purpose in life is, then I will shed my physical and emotional body, and if I have worked hard and become enlightened, then I would hope at some time I would also shed my mental body and find myself within the context of "All that Is" within the universe.
I don't think that "where" is a valid question in regards to death, but rather "what" do I become when I die. Whether I know it or not, I become a part of "All That Is as well". All things are cyclic, even our birth and death. Bodies are recycled, but our souls remain intact until we achieve Enlightenment, just as Buddha, Christ and other great religious leaders did, at this point I would like to believe that I become like a star, shedding light on a darkened world.

I believe a soul is the same as your inner spirit,it's your being, it's you, I was hurt when I was a child I hit my head on the sidewalk I was unconscious, and starting to shake all over, so I was told, but for me it was peaceful, I floated up toward a light it was like a tunnel an pitch dark around me, I remember saying Jesus once an instantly I opened my eyes, my Uncle was slapping my face trying to revive me.I was a child so I know I was heading for heaven it just wasn't my time yet thank god .I believe where a person goes is up to whether or not,you excepted Christ or not, think about it even if hell was just a possibility would it be worth the possibility !!!

We are made up of 3 parts: the Body, the Soul and the Spirit. The BODY is the home for the soul/spirit. The SOUL is that part of us that makes us who we are (e.g. our personality). The SPIRIT is that part of us that communicates with God. When the BODY dies, the SOUL/SPIRIT go to be with God for eternity, OR if we have decided to not accept the offer of salvation, then the SOUL/SPIRIT are separated from God for eternity.

I believe, that the human body is used as a vehicle by a being during physical incarnations, an astral body, (non-physical cohesive energy), for a vehicle while in-between physical incarnations, and a soul body for a vehicle after the required physical and astral incarnations are completed.
Christians believe the soul is the aspect of a being the is either punished or rewarded by their God, (IE. Hell or Heaven).
Buddhists refer to the eternally living part of a being as the ‘Self’, (IE. the true ‘Self’).

The soul lives forever. It is the real us. It goes back to God and it then goes either to heaven or hell.

I believe we all know what our "soul" is.
Atheists believe (though they don't consider it a "soul" per se) it is human intellect. Theists believe it is their essence that will eventually join their god(s) in heaven/summerland/springtimeland(or be doomed to hell if they believe in such) when they die.

"...where do you think it come from when you're born??"
this came to me the night before...
is our soul created in our mother's womb?
either ways, the soul, our souls...are not as it is.
definitely it is not what it is when it had started, when we took our first breath on Earth, and through years, as we grows, so does our soul.
our soul is...us.
