I was in a traffic jam on my way to a software event to try to network for a job. I had been out of work since June 2001 due to the dotcom crash, and technology meltdown.
My wife called me on the my cell phone to tell me, but I could only picture a small plane. Then she called me again and I told her it was a terrorist attack.
I met my buddies at the event in Chicago and then the announced they were evacuating the entire city. We went to a local bar and had hamburgers until traffic died down.
I was out of work a total of 18 months due to those Bastards. I would have gotten a job sooner if everyone in business decided not to stop doing business. It really crushed our economy.
Terrorists attacked so lets stop trading with each other so we all lose our jobs. I'm sorry for ranting on this but I still get steamed and not just about the over 1 million lost jobs, but the lives lost and the feeling of being violated.
Did you know that there were children on some of those planes? One of whom was only 2 years old traveling with her Mom & Dad.
I was on a golf course when we started bombing Afghanistan. I wasn't golfing. I was working as a Caddy trying to put food on my table. I remember when we got to the 9th hole we heard they had started the bombing. I worked a total of 5 jobs that fall at the same time trying keep my house.

I was driving to work listening to the radio when I first heard about it. Someone had set up a TV in a conference room (I work in an office building in the Chicago area) and most people spent the entire day watching the news or trying to check in with friends and family. I didn't grow up in the Chicago area and I remember thinking how badly I wanted to go home (my home town where my parents still live). The drive back to my apartment was extremely eerie....my commute takes me close to O'Hare airport and it was so creepy not see any planes in the sky.

I was in the second or third grade. At first I didn't see what the big deal was. No one told me that people died, they just told me that two buildings collapsed basically. I remembered seeing buildings being blown up on TV before so I didn't see why people were freaking out about it. Looking back, i feel guilty for not caring, even though I didn't know better. All I can do is move on, though.

I had just finished teaching DARE to a bunch of 5th graders and saw some of the school teachers walking around in total shock. They just mumbled something about go to the teacher's lounge and watch TV. I was then shocked and blown away by the unfolding tragedy. Parents started calling the schools to try and get their kids somewhere safe, just in case.
The worst thing ever.

At work talking to my Mom on the phone. She was watching CNN as she was cooking. CNN, Breaking News came on and She could barely talk to me to tell me what happenned.
As the 2nd plane hit we were still on the phone as they broadcasted the 2nd plane. We both cursed and new the World as we knew it was about to change.
I remeber trying to get online too CNN, Fox, MSNBC and couldn't due to such high traffic volume.
We rigged a TV up at work and for the rest of the day we all set mortified.

I was a freshman in high school and had just finished taking the Terra Nova (Indiana standardized test). My homeroom teacher had left and one of the health teachers came in to be out substitute. She said something had happened and turned on the TV. I saw the second plane hit the second tower.

I was in Amsterdam training a sales force on a product I had just developed. In fact, I was at the airport in Amsterdam about to fly back to London. I was scheduled to fly back to the states on the 12th. That was delayed to the 15th and I had to have tranquilizers just to get on the plane.
