They say that you can microwave it, but mine was in for like 20 seconds and burst into flames. Soak it in bleach or run through the dishwasher. Or replace it

a recent study showed that microwaving a sponge for 2 minutes kills 98% of germs. make sure its wet before you put it in, it usually dries out after a minute so you might need to get it wet again and stick it in for another minute. Or put it in a shallow dish of water and microwave for 2 minutes

The best way is to put it in the dishwasher. There is bleach in dishwasher detergent - plus high temps help to sterilize. Another great way: microwave it! Zapping your sponges in the microwave for two minutes will wipe out bacteria.

I run mine through the dishwasher every night and I microwave it every other day. I usually microwave it for 2 minutes at a time. I only keep the same one for about two weeks. Good Luck! =0)

likely undesirable ventilation is the area. The walls in a rest room see countless moisture. in the experience that they don't seem allowed to dry out each and daily- then mould will be a situation. If in case you get rid of the old walls and set up new ones- you receives mould back ultimately. How lengthy do the walls stay moist after someone showers?? in the experience that they don't dry out thoroughly after a pair hours- then i'd spend my funds or drying the position out. If there is mould in the back of the wall-- you want to make sure out "why" earlier you replace something. in quite some older homes the classic became to position an exhaust ventilator in each and each bathing room that did not have a window to the outdoors. the conception became that once you've a window- that you'll open it once you're interior the bathe. Thats a dumb concept- definite. although the end result became that many bogs were put in homes devoid of ventilation. definite bleach will kill mould. If the mould returns later-- its extra probably "new " mould than the old stuff increasing from the useless.

I think I saw the microwaving the sponge on Martha Stewart, but I just usually spritz it with bleach.

You can either put it in the top rack of your dishwasher and run it throw or you can place the sponge in the microwave and zap for a couple minutes.

The key is getting it up to 185 degrees for at least 20 seconds. That will kill any micro organisms. Bleach (chlorine) will also work, but chlorine will break down the sponge over time and become inactive at warm temperatures.

I boil water in a small pot, turn the heat off, put the sponge in and put a lid on it. Give it about ten minutes, and it'll be all clean. Germ and stink free!
