We have been taking the trees out of our backyard slowly over the past few weeks. We were digging in the deeper part of the dirt and found a bar that looks like it could be silver or gold. Its hard to tell with all the dirt that has hardened onto it. But you can clearly see the word SAECO pressed into it. Has anyone ever heard of a company called SAECO producing a type of metal? Were just not sure what this is. How could we clean it with out damaging whatever metal it is?

Use a stiff bristle brush, if it is metal then it wont get messed up too easily.

About the saeco...are you certain it is one word or abbreviation? I know I have seen sae somewhere but I cant think of where.

Maybe it was an old measuring utensil.

Or something bigger...

It is a coffee machine manufacture! There was also a bike racing team with the sponsor name so it could be part of the bike frame.

What an interesting find!

I would try taking it to a jeweler to see if it is either gold or silver. They should be able to tell.

Dang! Sounds like you might just have something there! Congrats if you do. It's gotta be or else it wouldn't have been buried like that! Try an antique site. Good Luck!
