Hire a P.I. (private investegator) there may be a specific P.I. that does just that- track down family.

You should set up a free consultation with a lawyer to see what to do in your situation. It may be more common than you think.

You may also file certain things in the newspaper in a specific section when you do not have a way to contact a person personally. That may sufice the law in notifying him and with no response you may proceed with the divorce. I would look up your local newspaper online and research what restrictions are.

Also your county will have free legal counsel that happens at a set time each week or by appointment. They will tell you how to proceed legally for your area of residence.

Good Luck.

You can file for divorce in court and if it is Uncontested for a certain amount of time the divorce becomes final-Consult a Divorce Lawyer-no cost for a phone question or the First Office Consultation , its only when you hire the attorney that money has to be exchanged.if he was living somewhere else before you lost track and you know address it may be legal to mail divorce papers to his last known address or contact landlord and post office if any forwarding address was left. To track someone through a social security may not be legal by just anyone-best you talk to a attorney

I've accidentally had a lot of success with this because of an ancestry program I purchased a while back. There is a section in there for "living people finder" and I've actually used it to find a few of my old Army pals! It doesn't require a social to search, just the person's name and as many details as you can manage (D.O.B., place of birth, etc). Good luck to you!

If you have an Idea where he is like what county, you could search the county public records, or if that does not turn up anything, then you may want to hire a private detective.

The same thing happened to me. I don't know if you are owed child support or not, but if you are, you can apply online to ChildSupport.com. Since you have his SS#, they will easily track him down. Also, a good attorney will be able to do the same thing with his SS# and thru credit reporting agencies. Good luck!
