It hurts a bit. I had it done but it never really healed correctly. It began to get infected and it was painful to sleep on it.

My whole ear started turning red then purple. Even though I took it out about 8 years ago, I still have a very small bump where the earring was.

If I were you, I wouldn't do it. sorry

No more than the rest of the ear. Just watch out when brushing your hair that you don't catch it because then it will hurt. And remember it will take longer to heal than normal piercings because it is through cartilidge and there is not as much blood flow resulting in a longer healing time. Just make sure you keep it really clean for the first 6 months to be safe so that it will heal.

I have had the cartilage of my ear pierced 3 times, and it hurt but for me it was a very quick procedure. It felt like it was throbbing for awhile after but it was the sorest when I was trying to sleep, cause if I rolled onto it, it really hurt! For me it took a week or two until I was able to sleep on it with no problems!

I hope that this has helped some!

I just got my auricle piercing the second week of January, and it's still healing. The part of my ear that it's on is near the top, but lower. Right before the cartilage starts to round off. But, it's been longer than 3 weeks (healing time) and it still hurts slightly.

When you get it done, it just feels warm and tingly. But it hurts during the healing process, which can range depending on where you get it. But I suppose all cartilage piercings heal the same.

But .. they look really good. =D! So it's worth it.

I dunno...I'm just writing to let you know that if you get the top of your ear pierced, you may be asked to sign a waver. See there is a *slight* possibility that piercing the top of the ear may strike a nerve that can cause partial paralysis of the face.

It doesn't happen often, but I thought you'd like to know before you go into the store.......

It hurts but nothing compaired to a broken arm or anything like that. I had mine pierced, it hurt, couldn't sleep on that side and then it got infected within 3 days. I took the earring out and never looked back.

i pierced my cartilage myself with a needle and it hardly hurt at all. u wont be able to sleep on that side without hurting your ear so you have to get used to that. it takes longer to heal than getting your ear lobes pierced but it looks very cute
