I've had my Ugg boots for a little over a year now and I have been keeping them clean, but I wear them almost all the time. Recently, after I take them off, they have a really bad odor. I don't know what could have caused this all of a sudden because I'm a super clean person (shower every day, etc.) Anyway, to try and avoid buying a new pair (they are sold out on the website anyway) I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to combat this odor? I was thinking of putting a few dryer sheets in each boot overnight to try and absorb whatever odor is in there. Any ideas? Thanks

As for the comment about the boots themselves being overpriced...I don't really give a damn how much they cost. They are really comfortable and I like them.

I don't think that the dryer sheets will work. When this happens, you need to pull out the the insoles that have the odor and replace them with a new set. It has nothing to do with cleanliness. This is just one of those things that happens with sheepskin. Below is one of many sources for the replacement insoles.

I have the same problem with my Uggs. The dryer sheet is a good idea, or you could put one of those little ball things in the boots that absorb wetness and odors. The smell is caused from the moisture from your feet. I know that on the Ugg website they sell new soles for the boots. I think they cost about ten dollars. This way, you have new soles, new fur, and new smelling boots. Any of the above options would be good, depending on how much you want to spend.

Uggs sells insole replacements. The insoles of your boots come right out, and since you have worn them for a year, it's time for them to be replaced. I buy them from Zappos.com for $14.95.

Bacteria from foot perspiration makes shoes stink. Your Uggs should be kept out in the open, allowed to dry out between wearings, not shoved into a closed closet. There is no ventilation in your closet, so that's not place for freshly worn shoes, ever.

You should wear them every other day to allow them to dry thoroughly. I have 2 pairs of Uggs and never wear the same pair 2 days in a row. I've also replaced the insoles every year to keep them feeling very comfy.

Best of luck to you.

Wear socks with them. It helps prevent more odor. I also got those sneaker ball things and they helped. If you aren't married to the Ugg brand, I just got some Koolaburras online. They're really cute :)
