click on view
toolbars
standard buttons & address bar should have a check nest to them if they are on, if not click on them to check it.
also under toolbars the status bar should have a black check next to it. if not, click it.

I am assuming that you are using Internet explorer. I am also assuming that you are not using IE7. Just right click (once) over "Tools" and make sure that there is a checkmark beside "Standard Buttons". If there is not then left click (once) on "Standard Buttons"

right click on the blank area on the address bar and add standard buttons that will help

What program? Internet Explorer?? Did the sliders on your menu bar get slid too far one way?
