Not a fan of either team, however ...
Indianapolis's salary cap issues will likely result in a few key players to ultimately leave this team. Harper and June are likely to be out unless contract restructuring takes place. Since Bethea played very well on that team, Harper may be more expendable. Also, Jason David may end up on the waiver wire as well. All this, plus potential losses to their offensive line AND maybe even Dominic Rhodes could hurt the Colts's chances to return to the Super Bowl. Sanders may be sticking around, but if that team loses enough players around him, his presence may not make a difference next season.
Detroit has to contend with Kevin Jones being out for half of the 2007 season. However, do not look for Detroit to use their second pick overall on a RB. Instead, they should still focus on their faltering defense. The Lions should go after either a DE or DT to start rebuilding that awful front line. Instead of the draft, Detroit will make itself a courter for Michael Turner (free agent from San Diego - a mini-LaDainian from what many have seen when he does play).
Jon Kitna is not done for. However, his time on the team is limited. McCown will be back for the '07 season and there is also the free agency market. Matt Schaub and Damon Huard will be available, and Detroit could use either one of these gunslingers to boost their passing game.
For Detroit (sadly), there is no quick fix for this team. For Indy, their salary cap will end up being their downfall.

I can only comment on one side of your question which is the Detroit Lions. Kitna had a solid year with the Bengals before they gave the helm to Carson Palmer. He then ended up with the Lions. Although his overall QB rating was not stellar in Detroit this season, his overall passing yards were impressive.
If you look at miriade of mock draft boards, most have the Lions taking Brady Quinn although that is changing somewhat. Matt Millen would have a hit out on him if he did that but looking further, we seek Lions Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz.
Mike Martz was able to turn Kurt Warner into an MVP player from the arena league. Next, he helped Bulger become the player he is today so I do not think Martz will go there and I think he pulls a truck load of weight in this years draft as it relates to offense.
Here is another element to consider. More than Insiders are saying that Marshall Faulk is recovered and would like to play one more year. And guess what, Martz loves Faulk and vice versa. Faulk is not looking to be the feature back but just to be able to play. If Jones cannot make it back this year, that signing would be a steal.
In the 2007 draft, picking second, I think the Lions are going to get many offers to trade down as many will be gunning for Quinn. One reason that Kitna's QB rating was not that high is the same reason Jones rushing totals were not that high. The Lions need OL help bad. They also could use some DL help.
I think the Lions will trade down but if they can grab Joe Thomas OT from Wisconsin and a DL further down, they are going to look pretty solid.
Remember what unpopular picks the Jets made last year in the first and second round. They took Ferguson and Mangold. Two offensive line players. They merely started as first year players and helped propel the Jets into the playoffs.

i'd say that the colts will value dwight freeny over cato june. june has struggled this year; freeny has been attracting a lot more o-line attention. i think the colts will do their best to keep their corners. Also, the colts should draft a linebacker, as this is a large need.
The lion's draft choice should depend on the raiders. should jamarcus russell fall to second, the lions should draft him; however, if he is taken, i think that either adrian peterson (though he's also an injury concern), calvin johnson (mad talent), or that o-lineman

they quite have a dislike for alll different followers. The Browns and Lions were mediocre at staggering for years, and Colts followers comprehend that as quickly Peyton retires or receives injured, they are destined to affix the Lions and Browns on the bottom. flow Steelers.
