I use Loestrin Fe. Any other brand makes me sick to my stomach. It's a lower dose of estrogen, so I don't get those crazy mood swings and depression cycles. It also gives shorter, lighter periods. I've never gained weight using any birth control brands either.

I use to take birth control pills a long time ago.I started gaining weight and stopped using them.I looked like I was 4 months pregnant.I never took anything for birth control because I wanted another baby.I got pregnant about 8 1/2 months later. After the baby was born I had my tubes tied.My periods would sometimes stop while I was using birth control pills and my doctor had said that it was because of the birth control pills.

A good doctor will make sure you are not given birth control pills that are loaded with high doses of hormones. I remember reading that the hormonal level differs greatly between brands. My doctor gave me a low dose and I just gained a little weight, never had depression or anything else.

The symptoms you experienced were probably because there was too much dose of estrogen. Keep trying to find the right one, because not all birth control are the same. As well, the gaining weight is a myth, and if you do happen to gain weight its only 5 pounds.

I have not gained weight on my birth control pill, I take Levlen, it's $13 a month, I signed up on www.smartwomanrx.com and you need your doctor to call in the prescription and it gets sent to you in the mail. I've been on it for 4 years.

i could bypass with the IUD if I have been you. I had the Mirena IUD for 3 years, and have those days had it bumped off to aim for infant quantity 2. The IUD became painless to get in, I had it put in at my 6 week verify up after my daughter became born. that's secure to apply while you're nursing your new child, and it lasts for 5 years!!! Plus you do no longer could subject approximately pills or something. the only think of i did no longer understand as quickly as I have been given the Mirena is that's can take awhile to your menstral cycles to return to typical after having the IUD bumped off. I had mine bumped off in December 2008, and in the previous couple months my cycles have ultimately back to typical, different than that, I surprisingly advise the IUD!
