How do you analyze a constitution? I have to do a paper on Japanses history and it is about the seventeen article constitution. I need to make a claim how would I do that and where would I begin

Study all the provisions of the constitution regarding the following:

1. Freedom if there are rights to be protected
2. Framework of government for what type of government,
3. Policies regarding foreign diplomacy, labor, finance and others

That is quite an undertaking; it is hard enough to understand the meanings of our own. I think for a true understanding of Japans constitution you must rely on others research because with out living in there culture you cannot get the nuances of there ideals. I would start with anthers you have read and trust there research and with that hopefully come to some understanding. I applaud your teacher to pose such challenges. I also know that you will do well in this assignment by you query.

Analyze? Heck, I wish people would just read ours. It only takes a half-hour ...or less, even.
And it was supposed to mean what it said.
And the guys that wrote it took great pains to describe what it said and meant so that nobody could ever "interpret" it differently.
...Sigh.

American generals helped write the Japanese Constitution after WW II. It helped the Japanese improve their lot in life.
