Wow... I wonder if you have any idea just how many "right" answers there are. There are electric guitars, acoustic guitars, acoustic-electric guitars, 12-string guitars acoustic AND electric guitars, hollow-body electrics, solid-body electrics, double-necks, six-string guitars, seven-string guitars, "harp" guitars, laptop steel guitars, "dobro" guitars with wooden bodies, dobro guitars with metal bodies, dobro guitars with flat OR round necks, electric-dobro guitars... in other words you need to be a LOT more specific about the purpose of what you are trying to do. Some models of guitar are better than others, even in the same brand - Gibson "Studio" Les Pauls aren't as nice as the Les Paul "Custom" guitars. There are different types of pickups and different qualities of the different types of pickups.

If you really want to get a guitar, find an experienced guitar player (or several) and ask them what they think is good. Then go to a music store WITH THEM and have them play and check out the guitars. To learn on, you do not need anything spectacular - as little as $225 can buy you a decent used guitar if you shop carefully and look for a sale or bargain with the store.

There are literally millions of guitars being made every year. The good news for you is that decent guitars are now extremely affordable. The fancy ones cost more, but you don't need "fancy" until you know how to play better. Then you can start looking for that 1959 Les Paul in mint condition for your tens of thousands of dollars guitar budget! ;) --- Just be sure to do one thing - don't buy the junk they sell at Wal Mart - its "firewood" - if you know what I mean! YUCK!!!

Depends on the money you want to spend and what your needs are.. I have many.. For an acoustic guitar. Gibson's, Martin's Taylor's are a few of the more upscale guitars.. Electric guitars.. I prefer Gibson's and Fenders.. I've had Ibanez, Guild and Yamaha's too.. There are some great custom guitars, hand crafted. They run in the thousands.. some as much as 20k

I don't know what this is doing under "cards" either, but

1) My first guitar was bought for $100 in 1962 and I've been offered $1700 for it. (Guild 3/4 bluegrass. Thanks, Mom & Dad.) I won't see because the action is terrific, the sound has become magical, and nobody does mother-of-peal inlays anymore.

2) All other guitars I have bought were purchased because of the action on their neck and the sound. Not the name. Never buy because of the name. Good luck.
