Well, my first car was a Mercedes 560 SL and I really liked it a lot until I totaled it. It was really safe though, if I hadn't have been in that Mercedes I probably wouldn't be living today. It really is a sturdy car. So I would recommend it. My mom has a new Volvo S80 and it is a piece of junk. It is always at the dealership, good thing it has a warranty. So I wouldn't recommend it although it does look good. I also owned a new VW Jetta 1.8T and it was a really good car as well. It was loaded with leather and a sunroof and was a really nice car. I never had to take it to the dealer at all. I traded it for a Land Rover and although it was a really nice SUV, the gas mileage sucked. That's why I now own a Saab 9-3 and I think it is a great car. I haven't had a problem with it and it is really fast. You would be surprised how many times I've smoked another kid in a suped up Japanese piece of crap (ie honda). All in all, I would have to say that my favorite European Car is a SAAB.

I've never driven any of them but from what I hear Volvos are reliable and safe.
