Woman

She, the river,

said to him, the sea:

All my life

I've been dissolving myself

and flowing towards you

for your sake

in the end it was I

who turned into the sea

a woman's gift

is as large as the sky

but you went on

worshipping yourself

you never thought

of becoming a river

and merging with me

Late Lament
by Graeme Edge

Breathe deep in the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is gray and yellow white
And we decide which is right
And which is an illusion?

For me today it's The Killers by Leonard Cohen. It just talks about how certain governments try to look pius while killing the people of another country while not realizing they are worse than what they are fighting against.. Sigh. He says it much better.
