If smoking is illegal why isnt farting in a restaurant banned ?

Because the government has not come up with a link to the dangers of second hand fart yet! Give it time, your tax dollars are being put to good use and the congress and executive offices are hard at work coming up with a task force to study the problem and if you are lucky, the environmentalists will join in and demand their fair share of funding as well. The Big restaurant owners will try to block the information from being published and so the task force will leak it to the media. The French will demand that we sign the Ky-as*-to treaty limiting what Americans can fart, but not what Chinese and Asians can fart and a Muslim will kill someone because of it!
And to think, all of this farting has caused global warming and now the north pole will melt and Santa will be some homeless guy in the Bronx saying "I used to be a Big Man in my day" and why you ask?
Because someone didn't have the foresight to accept and plan for smoking and non-smoking sections in public places.
