I don't know if this could be more meaningful then the 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln over Stephen Davis, with the debates and all leading up to the election, and such a hot topic issue like slavery and a torn nation, I don't think there will ever be a more important election, but this could be close, because now our problems have come up on a larger scale dealing with our torn foreign relations. If we go into a large scale war with Iran that essentially has us in 3 diffrent wars at once, that could raise possible draft questions and all kind of problems. And this election has many more well known contenders then elections past, so it is sure to be big. I'm just glad I can vote in this one, because it will be sure to be one to remember.

You can take that to the bank! 2008 won't be your typical duopoly election. I don't know why but I have this gut feeling that says a third party unity ticket will have so much influence and really put on a Perot. Focus: Democrats- nominating Clinton or Obama as Pres. there will be a large chunk of the moderates who'll be wiped out of playing a role in the nomination, Republicans- nominating McCain or Giuliani will leave some moderates and the conservative wing without any influence. What happens? Libertarians, Greens and Constitutionalists decide to leave some of their issues out and decide to form a third party alliance. This isn't a joke, it could happen. From my point of view, it seems that even third parties would care more about the average American than the duopoly. Please don't kid with Iran, it just would be the typical nightmare scenario because we'd all be drafted and the poor country would be a mess. Would voters decide to vote for the third party alliance or the duopoly? If Bush attacks Iran, you can mark him as the worst Pres. in history (even worse than Nixon) and we'd be in a national emergency. Voters might tell the duopoly to perch on it and follow with the creative third party ads. Americans would be so fed up that it's sad. By the way, the 08 election will be a very important election so for those bozos who haven't voted up to now, vote. Some people like these just stay home and don't care and these voters could easily vote for a third party. But no the duopoly says that you're wasting your vote. Wasting your vote my ***! The 08 election will be dirty but I'm voting for either Paul or Tancredo if they run otherwise I'll have to look for another option. The scenario you mentioned just got me uptight again! Thanks!

If that is the case I'm staying outside the US (I have been living outside the US for the past 3 years). I hope the election is not as nasty as you say it will be, but I think your probably right though.
The last two elections have been as divisive as they come, which tells me this one will be more of the same.
I pray to God that Bush doesn't attack Iran or we could be looking at WWIII.
We definately need someone who will bring this country together again. If we can't find that person, we are doomed.

Bleak I'm afraid. I admit to being very liberal but it seems to me that there are only two groups of people in America. Religiously-political conservative VOTING people or apathetic people. The Democratic party is so pathetic that they could not defeat Bush in 2004, even with his obvious faults. 2008 will indeed be the dirtiest and nastiest ever- Obama and Clinton are both WAY too polarizing, while McCain will only have to convince the far right (meaning the Christian right and the extreme social conservatives) that he is on their side. I believe he will do so, and win 2008 in lanslide over Clinton. I don't know if anyone is capable of cleaning up the occupation of Iraq (it's not a war-it's an occupation-don't tell me its the media/Bush coined "War on Terror") and the whole Middle-East undeniably is. I have no idea how to fix that-we stuck our noses in a centuries old conflict (and don't tell me no one saw that coming-that is a near criminal failure by the Bush administration) that has no peaceful solution. We have both sects of Muslims angry with us One for siding with the other sect and one for occupying their cities. Even if we don't like it or won't admit it, they (meaning the Middle-East in general and Iraq specifically) view us as imperialists trying to spread our ideals to an area that does not want them. Domestically we move farther and farther to the right every day. We live in a climate of fear where cartoon ads shut whole cities down and we all take our shoes off at the airport (like that is going to make us safer-uh, I think terrorists have moved on to other methods by now). I'm not saying we will transform overnight into some Orwellian dictatorship, but folks, we are headed down that path. How much personal freedom are you willing to sacrifice for security? Where is the line? Who decides? What if I don't agree? It's for the common good? Isn't that a liberal idea?

I don't think the US will attack Iran, and Rudy will be our next President. However, in the case I am wrong, and I often am, and Bush does get Iran, that will probably affect the outcome and we could possibly see Hillary as President and Obama as Vice.

I will predict the republicans will win, their plan has already been set into motion, everything Bush has done in his term I believe was to decieve Americans and make himself and his followers Rich at citizens expense. Our kids in a senseless war and, illegals threatening our sovereignty,it is truly sad when our president is more concerned for foreigners than the welfare of our own citizens. I hope my predictions are wrong,we might be ok if Americans wake up and see what is happening to our country, and citizens. I have not decided who to vote for,the top repubs or dems all make me think they are in it for the money and not the country,Im researching and thinking maybe Duncan Hunter, but I doubt he will make it to elections, not popular in the media enough.
