That is an incredibly rude thought. No, I don't think that way, and I really think prostitution ought to be legalized, regulated and taxed. That would be one way of making some major income for the States...but sorry, I digress. Just because swingers enjoy that lifestyle doesn't make it prostitution. No money changes hands, it's consentual and everyone's an adult. Besides, many tribal societys work that way as well and they don't think anything's wrong with it. I don't think why we should either. It's simply a matter of point of view. I personally wouldn't share my Partner with anyone, we're monogamous, but we made that choice together. If someone else made another choice, that's their decision.

Hardly. Prostitution is purely an economic decision.

There is nothing inherently immoral about a couple involving third parties in their sex life if both parties in the relationship freely consent and are completely comfortable with the lifestyle.

For that matter, imo there's nothing inherently immoral about two parties contracting for sex in exchange for money. The only moral qualm I have about legalizing prostitution is that it would provide an easier avenue for adulterous spouses (in relationships where the other spouse had NOT consented to sex with third parties), as both the criminal and disease risk elements would be minimized with legalization. Even so, I still think the benefits of legalizing prostitution outweigh the detriments-with taxation and regulation it removes the crime element and reduces the risk of STD transmission, and besides, if people want to cheat they're going to cheat some way.

There is a big difference between swinging or polyamory and prostitution.

I'm poly. I have a committed relationship with a woman and I have lovers outside of that relationship as well as casual sex with or without the presense of my partner. I don't take money for these encounters. I do them because I want to and because the other person or people involved want to, not to make money.

Prostitution is the transfer of value from the act of sex itself to something external - the prostitute is fulfilled not by sex but my the money he or she receives from sex.

No, a prostitute is someone who voluntarily has has sexual intercourse or performs other sexual acts for compensation, usually money.

Swinging is simply fulfilling sexual fantasies as a couple. There is no money involved. It is sex, just like between a couple, but with more then just the two.

I don't see the relationship between having sex for cash and two couples having sex together. Aside from the sex part. Do you think if singles have sex with other singles that you might as well be a prostitute?

What a stupid question! First of all, swinging is not against the law, prostitution is. Secondly, prostitituion should not be against the law.

Swinging is being sexually open in a relationship.
Prostitution is having sexual acts for money.

See the difference? (God, I hope you see some difference).

Yes! If you love and respect a person, you do not want anyone else to violate that person.

If you're a swinging couple, why not get paid because you sure as heck will not be loved or respected, no matter what your swinging partners say.

That's a rather personal issue between couples.
I think you should reserve your judgement to youself.

No.... a prostitute is someone who gets paid to provide someone with sexual gratification. A swinger is someone who is non-monogamous, and seeks their own sexual gratification.
