I heard that blue and orange valve covers, by color told if it was a 305 350 or 400. Is that true?

73 to 76 all engines orange, 77 all blue except industrial which were still orange, 78 to 83 all engines blue, 84 to present all engines black. The year range is about all you can tell by color.

the early original colors for the the valve covers were orange and they dont tell if they were a bigger size engine

no..........up to74 or 75.....all were orange.......after that all were blue........all of them!
