Yup. Not a problem. Just use a primer first. Kilz has a water based product out now that has lower fumes. I wouldn't use a spray paint like as in aerosol since it's a small environment, but brushes and rollers will do the job fine.

Yes. But first you are going to have to stop the stains in their tracks. It first has to be dry on the surface and behind if it is fibreboard. The next thing is and I am sure if it had a white ceiling, it has a tar like ring on it.
You need a spray can of KILZ. Basically white shellac. Spray it on the stain....a thin-med coat. Let dry an hour or so if it is warm You can touch it to see if it is dry or sticky. Wait till it drys. You have basically put on a layer of glass(works like glass in that the stain stays behind it.) You can paint with whatever paint you want, without worry of bleed thru.
Now you will be thinking, nah I will save the money from buying the KILZ and put on an extra coat of paint.
I thought the same too. I have painted the same stain 6 times(with the coats drying a full day) and the stain still comes thru. I still had to KILZ it. and paint again.

I really do not see why you cannot. I guess you can paint just about anything you want to. You will have to cover the stains with something, or the paint will not cover it. The stain will bleed right out.

sure it is, just like you would paint your house. use something like kilz as a base coat to cover the stains. it will keep the color from bleeding thru. my friends just redid their camper and it looks like new

You sure can. Make sure you buy acrylic paint (water based) and not gloss tho, (it goes on easier, and less smell, and if you get the right brand it will be washable too) Good luck.
