What you are saying is true, but during the course of this trial the questioning will possibly expose the true origin of the leak. In fact, it already appears it came from Cheney himself. It also may put Libby in a position to expose the truth to save himself. Stay tuned.

You try someone because the state believes the person broke the law. The trial allows all the facts to be presented out in the open, and to be made part of the public record. Even if the person is later pardoned, the trial transcript will be available, and history will know what happened.

Are you serious? The guy exposed a CIA agent just for spite. He worked on behalf of Bush and this could lead right to him the way Watergate led to Nixon. Then, possibly with a Democrat in the White House, no one will be pardoning anybody.

Libby is a scapegoat, however, you are quite correct. If Libby is found guilty he will be acquitted by Bush either immediately or when he leaves office.

I think the intent is to show that Bush strong armed everyone into saying Iraq was a threat. This is just one case that made it to headlines. You have to wonder how many people who knew better were silenced with threats of this kind of thing.

Mr. Bush probably won't have the gall to do pardon him, even if he thinks he should.
