First, convert the percent to a fraction over 100.
Ex. 20.1% -> 20.1/100
Next, convert the fraction to a decimal.

It's 0.201 ; here's how to do such conversions:
100% of anything means the whole thing itself. In other words, for any quantity Y,
100% x Y = Y = 1 x Y, so 100% = 1
Then 20.1% = (20.1/100) x 100% = (20.1/100) x 1 = 0.201 QED
It's worthwhile recognizing a few common percentages. Doing so may also help you realize approximately how big a decimal to expect.
Examples:
50% = 0.50 = 1/2
20% = 0.20 = 1/5
10% = 0.10 = 1/10
5% = 0.05 = 1/20
1% = 0.01 = 1/100
Notice how in each case the TWO figures before the ' % ' sign (like 50 or 20, etc.) just have a ' . 'put in front of them, when they've been converted to a decimal number. In other words, those % figures have been divided by 100, to represent them as a decimal number. (The leading ' 0 ' before the ' . ' decimal point sign is merely a convention that signifies where the "empty" unit place is.)
That's also true of the 5% and 1% providing that you think of them as 05% and 01% --- in other words, you make them have two figures as a percentage number by writing down the redundant leading ' 0 '. Once again, taking that ' 05 ' and dividing by 100 you get 0.05 or 0.01.
This still works for more than TWO figures before the decimal sign. For example, 200% of something is TWICE that thing, Once again, divide the 200 figure by 100, and you get 2.00 ; so once again we have the same kind of equality as before :
200% = 2.00
I hope that you can apply the same thing to questions you are asked in future. Good luck!
Live long and prosper.

divide 20.1 by 100 which = .201
this is because the amount you gave me is 20.1 of 100% and you always want to divide by 100 to get the decimal if ever needed...hope this helps!

means 20.1/100
means 0.201
