Mr Putin told senior security officials from around the world that nations were "witnessing an almost uncontained hyper use of force in international relations".

"One state, the United States, has overstepped its national borders in every way," he said, speaking through a translator.

"This is very dangerous. Nobody feels secure anymore because nobody can hide behind international law.

"This is nourishing an arms race with the desire of countries to get nuclear weapons."

I agree with what he meant concerning America's hyper use of force and over stepping its national borders. Its rather obvious that America has always done this to one degree or another. His most significant words however pertained to the US skirting of international law/treaty/cooperation. Even other recent conservative admistrations have at the very least tried to play fair in the game of international diplomacy.

Vladamir Putin, is a guy that needs to be closely watched, as the former head of the KGB, he is definitely sharper and smarter than he lets on to the general public. Putin is trying to turn Russia back into a communist state, there are still some old hardliners from the old days of communism, that are hanging on, hoping for another chance to turn Russia back into the communist giant it was before the republics broke away. When the communist were in control, they even had control over the people and everything that they did in their lives, which is something that Putin as Prime Minister sorely misses. Putin rose to the office of the President of Russia, when Boris Yeltsin, suddenly resigned, and was elected President in 2000 for a term of 4 years, and was reelected in 2004 for another 4 year time, due to term limits like the United States he could not run for a 3 term and nominated Medvedev as President, in returning the favor Medvedev named Putin as his Prime Minister, a role of equality between Putin and Medvedev, while Medvedev is the head of state.

I think that the world is pissed that the US decided to go and kick Iraq's *** with incorrect intelligence.

Let me break it down for you like a fraction:

Let's say a SWAT team came to your house looking for 100 kg of crack that you were suspecte to have. Let's also say that they had been misinformed about the sting.

So they come bashing through the doors -- boom, wham, slam, bam ...get on the ground, get on the ground, show me your hands, don't move, don't move, nobody move, nobody get hurt...yada, yada, yada!!! So you stop moving, your dog lies still and your fish hold their breath. Ok.

So, they search and find nothing. So they say, damn, we are so sorry we screwed up that time. Sorry man, we'll leave right away. And so they haul ***. You're pissed but at least they've gone with apologies.

If the Iraq intelligence was false, why didn't the US pull out after they realized they sent in a "SWAT" team into the wrong country? If the SWAT team finds no crack (or WMDs) and still refuses to leave and apologize, they must have some unspoken hidden agenda.

That hidden agenda is what Putin and the rest of the world dislike. You can't say you are going to invade a country for reasons A and B and then change your mind like a little kid just to save face. People are not dumb. They know that Bush was chasing WMDs and he never found any. The world know that since that is exactly what the the UN inspectors were reporting before the war started.

So, now you want to point fingers at Putin? You have 3 fingers pointing right back at ya dude!!!

The war should never have been started. The day Rumsfeld called for "shock and awe" was the day the punch went sour. People saw it coming but they were ignored. The war was lost on the day the shock and awe began. Not years later.

It's just like a thief. Your life is not messed the day you are caught trying to heist a bank. It is potentially ruined on the day you steal 25 cents from your momma's jar and refuse to accept fault even when caught red-handed.

I remember a newspaper article that came out shortly after Putin gained power . The writer warned all Americans, that although Putin is 'acting' like a possible friend, we cannot close our eyes and ears to his long track record of the opposite . His leadership of the KGB should be more closely scrutinized . I believe it was published in the Chicago Tribune, in a Sunday issue . Who said older people can't remember anything ? Smile .

Russia is a "friend" & major trading partner of Iran and they do not want to see the Bush attack Iran which they think could start a much larger war maybe even a world war. That's why Putin is saying those things.

thats pretty much true....every nation DOES see the US as a over-the-top dominator, pushing other nations into desicions they would rather stay out of
for example, Nth Korea has nuclear weapons right? and everybody is against that, as am I. of course these weapons we're developed AFTER the US had, so if anything, North could be seen as protecting itself against the US

if Bush is serious about dis-arming Nth. Korea, that he has to realise that he too must give something up
The USA MUST fix its own issues before trying to rule over everybody else's....how about a national health system?

Yes I do agree with him. He is correct in every way. Is the USA safer now that they have invaded Iraq looking for WMD? I think that you are worse off now, hated by most nations.

The only way for countries to defend themselves against an attach is to acquire nuclear arms.

Putin is right on!

Yes, and after all of the accusations Bush throws around, "challenging" the rest of the world to act more he wants them to, it is hypocritical not to at least pay attention to Putin, and to ask ourselves whether we really are acting this badly (and I believe we are).

I suspect the Fox media folks will dismiss this the same way they dismiss the heads of other nations who criticize the use, but our dismissal of international outrage is to our own detriment.

i really like this question because its not more of the neoco/lib stuff that is so very nonproductive. And its recent news.

Strongly agree. I like what he said a long time ago like 1-2 yrs when Bush was giving him a bad time about democracy in his country and he said "If you are talking about democracy like the one you are setting up in Iraq no thanks!" I think Putin is great. Of course its self serving because France and Russia have passed us in international arms sales. So the more terror you can spread the more likely you are to sell more guns.

Nope, Putin has been exposed and now he is acting like Hugo with his "crying and whining." It looks as if the US has cut into Putin's profit's with Saddam being taken out and the fight against the insurgency.

"Then there is the touchy dispute over weapon sales. In a Mar. 24 phone call, Bush confronted Putin with U.S. intelligence indicating the presence in Iraq, in violation of U.N. sanctions, of antitank missiles and electronic jamming devices. Moscow's Aviaconversiya, one alleged seller of the equipment"
