I'd rather spend my time with my sweetheart when things aren't busy, overpriced and hectic. Why not on the 11th when you can reserve a table at a decent restaurant and get better service?

What are people's thoughts on this?

You probably should check with your sweetheart. That's the one you have to make happy.

As for me, I wouldn't care if we celebrated on the 14th or the 17th. Now it would be nice to be told on the 14th what the plan was. I can see doing it when things aren't so busy.

Since my husband and I got married we haven't been able to spend any Valentine's Day together (he's military and Uncle Sam could care less about holidays! lol) I've actually found that I like celebrating at a different time from most people because I don't like being in crowds etc. So just celebrate when you guys want to and forget about doing it on the actual day.

Valentines day is just a holiday that Halmark made to make money. Sure its fun to do on the 14th, but thats not the only day to have fun with your sweetheart.

Absolutely not! My valentine and I will be working different shifts on the 14th so we will mark the occasion on the 13th instead. Any holiday can be celebrated or observed at any time.

none.

during the 14th it has been tradition to celebrate lovers' day in commemoration of Valentine's day but it is not a law or a real holiday (like christmas, thanksgiving etc)

it is up to you whatever you wish to do.
its like your birthday, you can decide to give a party or just have a weekend getaway

No, it's just a Hallmark holiday- and yes, I agree- everything is overbooked and overpriced. I don't even care too much about his "made up holiday" and would much rather do something nice on my b-day.

You can do anything you want, whenever you want. But, if you want your valentine to be there on the 15th, I suggest you show up with something on the 14th!

there is nothing wrong with showing your loved one that you love them any time during the year. you dont have to do one thing on valentines day if you dont want.

No problem as long as your sweetheart agrees.
