Because there is alot of crime (Marines,Gangs,Illegals,ect) But I do understand your question. Why is it so cheap. But I bet...comming from a person who lived there for 21 years. (My whole life!) And lived all parts of oside. The nicer part is more expensive and a 15 min drive to the beach and that is the Ranchero Del Oro! It's a nice area...and has awesome schools. People always forget to mention this area when they are talking about Oceanside.Also, I grew up in South O part of my life...there is nothing ghetto about that area.All this sums up too is that Oceanside is has a nice real estate...just some areas you dont want to live in...

Actually, Oceanside is by the Marine base- which is good and bad- its on the fringe so its neighborhood by neighborhood. There are gang areas- don't move to Chula Vista- too near the border and SMOGGY! Check out Encinitas and carlsbad and areas like that- We live in Riverside County- Temecula- its a drive for my husband who works in Mira Mesa but its right up the 15 fwy and its horses and new neighborhoods and Old Town and hills-less smog and clean living at much less expense-

I think the name says it all. Southern Ca by the ocean. I lived in CA all my life until 2 years ago. You cant beat the weather but housing prices and trafficare a nightmare. Now I live in a huge house for 1/3 of the price of my tiny house.

Not so true anymore. $600K and up for a house. It is a bit far from SD downtown. Some neighborhoods are spotty....but not to worry as you can easily spend 3 million for your house if you desire.

You might also post this in the San Diego section. It is MUCH closer to Del Mar. Only place we have in L.A. is Corona Del Mar. It is not the same thing....

it's ghetto. Tons of gangs, white trash, blockhead marines, and illegals. There are some nicer parts though, the closer you go to Carlsbad. and it's far from central san diego.
