If you look on the emissions label usually located under the hood or on the fan shroud, there is information on there such as engine type and spark plug gap, etc.....On that label you will see a number for the coolant. This number is also on the back of the coolant jug (they are small and sometimes hard to find). This new type of coolant that your engine calls for is formulated for aluminum engines. Propelyne glycol and ethelyne glycol coolant tend to be a little harsh on aluminum engines over time.

Oh David! Dex-Cool IS Ethylene Glycol. Traditional coolant is fine to use and in my experience is preferable. Dex-Cool has problems with sludging that we did not get with the old standby. And as far as long life goes, DexCool still needs to be replaced at 5 years anyway.

it not because they put the other stuff in there! the manifold gasket is very commen and extremly common for thoses truck with over a 100k, any dex cool system is capable of running regual anti freeze the reason the tell u to use dex cool because you dont need to flush it for 100k and the other stuff is 40-60k thats all its not the shops fault or the other stuffs fault just wear and tear!!!
