Don't rush yourself or psych yourself out early. Don't try to win a spot on the squad in the 1st five minutes.
Settle into your strokes and get comfortable. Establish a tempo and consistency. Once you're grooving, pick your spots to showcase your strengths.
If you need help focusing or calming down, try a ritual. Take deep breaths, bounce the ball a certain number of times or straighten the strings on your racket. Anything repetitive that will help you loosen up and focus.
Think positive and most importantly, have fun!

Well, sounds like your in the same boat as me. Drink drinks like Propel and Gatorade. Water only hydrates you but these drinks hydrates you and gives you energy. Start in the middle of the court. Don't go off Attacking. Start by continuously hitting at a far part of the court. Then slam one to the other side of the court, or give a drop shot to the farthest point from them. In the middle of you match start attacking. By the end if you did this right you'll be well rested to handle their attacking shots. Defend by shouts like slice or just angle you racket head with no power. (It will be using their power against them) Good luck hope you make the cut.

I get very nervous also, practice meditation through breathing exercises, calming and good for you (more oxygen).
1)breath in slowly through nose over 5 seconds, filling your lungs (expanding stomach
2)hold breath for 5 seconds
3) breath out slowly through your mouth and nose over 5 seconds.
make sure you count 5 LONG seconds. not 12345,
1 missisipi
2missisipi...etc.
drink water, sip it slowly. play your normal game, if that is not working, just play all of your shots in. play a practice match with a friend. match practice is invaluable, and you should get as much as possible. Keep a posisitve attitude, don't get down on yourself, don't give up.
I believe you can do it if you want to. reach for the stars!!!!!!!:-D

Before a match I would always do a complete warm-up session. Visualizing the match as I'm warming up. Your body will start to relax and your mind will start to settle. Once you've completed your warm-up feel how your body and mind are feeling. And when you start your match, bring yourself back to the feeling that you had at the end of your warm-up. This technique takes time to master but it gets easier the more you do it. It worked for me.

Stay away from carbonated drinks and you may want to listen to some relaxing music about an hour before you play, if possible, also, do a light warm-up before try-out begins to get your blood pumping, but not rushing

Don't psych yourself out - concentrate on the moment and what you need to do to finish each point.
