I don't know. Light a candle or turn on a flashlight. Call the electric company and pay over the phone? Then hook up your monthly payment as a direct bill payment with your bank? Save the stamp this way.

Take responsibility for paying bills yourself? Maybe the husband has too much on his plate already and paying the el. bill is the last thing on his mind? Maybe he wants to spend more cuddly night time with the wife? Actually, you SHOULD request him to make it up to you now that the lights are out. Take advantage of him. But give him a break. Then find a solution.

I don't know if this will help but this is what I did. My husband lost his job and the bills stared to stack up and I was getting worried about things, so I called the companies that were the closest to getting cut off and asked for more time and explained the problem to them, then went out to get a job myself and paid the bills untill my husband got another job. I didn't belittle him, or say your not a good husband, I just did what I thought I had to do for us, a couple not a single. You marriage should be the most important job you have, wheather it's good or bad, unless there is abuse in the marriage, I would work on keeping your man happy, in turn he will keep you happy.

Point out that the electric is off due to his lack of proper bill paying. Then pay the bill, take over the check book and don't ever give it back to him.

There are a lot of p*ssed off ladies in here. Sometimes bills get misplaced, forgotten about, or overlooked. Get the bill paid, your lights back on, and move on with your life.

Anyone else who answered ever hear of the expression "don't make a mountain out of a molehill"? You all have him as a deadbeat, lazy, dumb, or whatever other bad thing you can think of. Maybe it just slipped his mind. You guys already have him hanging from the gallows on this one.

That is why I am glad to be single again. All the p*ssed off ladies sound just like my ex. Never again will I put up with that. This is why people get divorced. If it weren't for sex, men wouldn't have anything to do with women if they didn't have to.

If my hubby failed to pay the electric bill and my lights got cut off.I would sell his Harley to get them back on.And then firmly plant my foot up his a** for being an idiot.Especially since I have a little boy medically dependent on electric.

try getting a job and paying your own half of the bills. If its your house you should have known the bill was late or past due and made sure something was done about it. Maybe you should stop leaving all the responsibility on your husband!

It all depends on the situation, huh? If the husband had the money to, and still doesn't pay it, mostlikely that woman is so controlled already that she would just wait...
My ex did that, but he didn't have the money, he'd change jobs, spend every penny he got, etc...I ended up working more, getting my own checking account, paying for stuff, and when I was ready, I divorced him.

Personally, if that happened to me, I'd take the checkbook and pay the bills myself. Everyone makes mistakes; maybe right now he's too busy to keep up with it, so why not you do it? That way, at least you know it gets done.

that's sad that you waited to have it turned off...electricity bills aren't mortgage or rent bills... anyone should be able to afford it.

Is that the only bill he didn't pay? lucky you move out and I'll move in with him...

First you need to know why he didn't pay it. Then you will know if you need to start paying bills yourself, kicking his butt out for spending all your money on something unimportant, or letting family members know in order to shame him into taking care of his responsibilities.
