Has anybody noticed that he has funny eyes? They are very black, especially in relation to the rest of his colouring, they are very shifty and they flicker with this diabolical kind of a gleam. Dawson Leary, too, has this annoying smile. It is a condescending, wiser-than-thou smile that seems to mock other people's innocence. It is a pious look.

He is very patronizing in his relationship with Joey. He comes out with these classic remarks like, "Joey, I think that you and I both . . ." or "I think it would be good for both of us . . ." It is as though he is trying to take ownership of Joey's feelings and not let her think for herself.

I wonder if that new sister he acquired was called "Unfinished Business".

I can see why "Joey" thought Tom Cruise was a step up as far as a catch was concerned, and definitely why she left Dawson for Pacey.

Is James Van Der Beek really this annoying in real life?

I agree with the remark about the kids talking way older than they are. Furthermore, Pacey was supposed to be the loser, and he just couldn't rise academically like some of his friends. However, he sounded more intelligent than the average university professor.

Maybe the System really is this crazy.

What I had been meaning to say is that I hope James Van Der Beek is just a good actor, and that he is only skilled at playing the character of the biggest creep on television.

I completely agree with you. His eyes are rather weird. I have always found his smile to be kind of annoying, but I tried to ignore it because I loved the show. And I also know what you mean with the whole Joey thing. He needed to back off and let her be who she wants to be and think for herself. I definitely know why she ended up picking Pacey over Dawson. Pacey was so much better for her. I don't know if James Van Der Beek is really annoying, but I sure hope he's not.....

I didn't think he was weird or annoying at all. I really liked his character. I think he had a pretty interesting personality. As far as his looks, I think he is a good looking guy. Dawson and Joey should have probably remained friends.

I just saw him on Criminal Minds and he was great. I think he has a lot of potential to be a good actor. Let me say his performance on Criminal Minds was more memorable for me than anything I have seen Tom Cruise do in years.

I thought he was a complete drip, and a bit creepy in Dawson's Creek.

wow, you have really put a lot of thought into dawson's creek....you do realize it is just a silly teenage show with lots of over acting and kids talking way older then they were......the show was so unrealistic.......but yeah, you are right about the dawson actor/character....too creepy and strange.
