While I was busy at home working on the computer today I heard a bang hitting my window, shards of glass flying all over my computer desk. When I looked up I noticed blood all over the wood, and suddenly noticed something tapping against my foot. When I jumped up surprised, I looked beneath the desk and noticed a raven hopping around on one foot chirping wildly.

I quickly called the animal agency and when they came over they noticed the bird was wearing a tag from the owner living next door which you can see in the following photo as well as the window.

Since he is arab is it normal for people of their culture to own wild birds? Also, can I sue for having him let loose the bird in the first place and for damages?

Also, since he hasn't returned from his vacation, what can I do to take care of the bird who has a broken wing, and a injured talon?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

If he is on vacation how did his bird get loose?
Take the bird to a vet, see if you can get in contact with the guy.
What business is it of yours if it is a cultural norm for him to keep a bird. If need be leave the bird with the vet or see if the veterinarian has any suggestions for who you can give it to to take care of.
Man could you have jumped on the lawsuit train any faster?
Really? Maybe he could sue you for having a window his poor bird could fly into.
This doesn't have to go to litigation. Just try to negotiate with the guy without getting all hot under the collar.
He should at the very least be responsible for any vet bills you incur... but if you can avoid it don't go to court.

I agree with dze. None of this makes sense, especially a bird flying into a window and breaking it! Also, the deal with blood being all over the wood because of a broken wing just doesn't make a lot of sense. Personally, I don't know of any vet that would tag a wild bird so some family can make it a pet. Those tags mean something, and while I haven't heard of everything, I have never heard of a tag being put on a wild bird as a license for someone to own that bird. Are you upset that you have an Arab living next door to you? Is that what your real problem is? IF you called an animal agency, undoubtedly they would have taken the bird. Your story just doesn't make sense. And your web site cannot be viewed.

I would say find a good bird veterinarian in your area, take the bird in for emergency treatment. Take pictures so you can prove why you did this (pictures of the birds injuries and your damaged property). When the owner comes home, take his bird to him, explain what happened, give him a COPY of the pictures and vet bill, and ask him to kindly repay you.
If he refuses, take him to small claims court. Who knows, he may be happy for your timely helping of his bird or he could become obstinate.
I couldn't tell you whether his nationality has anything to do with his having a raven or not. But, if it is tagged, he probably has the appropriate permission to have a wild bird.
BTW, I could not view the picture for some reason.
Good Luck and thank you for being kind to the poor bird. I have helped many wild birds who flew into windows. I have usually taken care of small songbirds, but taken larger ones to the Wildlife Refuge in my area.

I would turn the bird over to the animal agency, they will know how to take care of it, and your neighbor will be able to claim it from them. Being Arab, or in your case racist has nothing to do with the kind of pet a person keeps. Since this was obviously an accident, and the damages consists of a broken window. Just try asking your neighbor to pay for the window before threatening to sue. Since the gentleman was on vacation he is obviously not the one who let the bird out. And you would spend more money on court costs that he would be required to pay.

well you could be nice and take the bird into the vet. then when the owner returns tell him what happened and give him the vet bills. then if he doesn't pay for them you can take him to court for the bird and for the window. but i will bet he will appreciate you helping his bird and will gladly pay for you helping him.
