Next weekend a friend, her boyfriend, and his teenage son are coming to visit us. We live in Visalia (near Fresno) and there's not really that much to do outside of the normal mall, restaurants, mini golf etc. My boyfriend and I are more of the hang out types but they are bringing a teenager and we don't want our guests to be bored. Our options are:
1. Visit Kings Canyon Park, see the Big Trees, play in the snow
2. Drive to Pismo beach, visit Hearst castle, see the ocean
3. Drive to Santa Cruz (Boardwalk, ocean, Mystery Spot)
4. Visit Yosemite
5. Stay home, hang out
Which should we choose? Thanks

Because of the cooler weather stay away from Kings and Yosemite. Go to Santa Cruz even though the temp's will be about 55 to 65 at the Boardwalk and the pier will be great fun for the teenager and all.
About 10 miles away to the north is Henry Cowell park where you can see those giant redwood trees. It is only a one mile walk around but there are plenty of off trails if you really want to hike. these trees are like the King Canyon trees but not as many as King Canyon.BUT no snow.
Also downtown Santa Cruz is fun to tour through. Lots of reasonable hotels this time of year. Boardwalk is only open on the weekends this time of year.
Don't forget the surfers on west Cliff drive- starts right at the boardwalk.

Your ideas 1-4 sound fun to me. No. 5 would probably not be my choice. However, for a very complete list of the most interesting places to visit in the Central Valley, the following non-commercial link will give you even more good ideas.
