Such as stem cells and cloning. Every arguement that i've heard to ban stem cell research, discounting the irrational and emotional, raises the specter of "baby farms". Fetuses created and aborted specifically for their stem cells. That would be horrible and inhuman, i agree, so why not ban baby farms and let stem cell research continue? Why ban a possible miracle technology because it -might- be abused?

I think mass distrust in how mankind handles technology began with the creation of the atom bomb. And research done with human body parts without consent is reminiscent of WWII concentration camp "research" and other fictional and criminal non fictional horrors. Combine that with our natural instinct to protect babies by sacrificing our own lives, and the fact that in the US we have the personal right to decline donating our body parts at death -a right human fetuses would not have, and add the fact that some believe that a fetus is a baby with rights... I find it very understandable why using human fetus stem cells would be a moral and ethical problem for some people.

Because a fetus comes from an abortion, and many who oppose stem cell research feel as they do because of religious beliefs. That is not to say all pro-lifers oppose stem cell research or that all who oppose the research also oppose abortion, but for some there is a connection.

well dude its like this: some people dislike stem cell research because they believe that god creates human and they believe that humans shouldnt create other humans. Now me personaly i love stem cell research cause it would allow us to make science better then we ever magined but for us who dont oppose of it will just have to wait till religion is provin false.

Because technology can be a double edged sword if used by the wrong people to achieve their own goals.
Nuclear power can be a good thing, instead it is used to build bombs that can decimate the earth.
You might want to read some novels that illustrate the questions you have. I recommend "Coma" by Robin Cook, and "Brave New World", by Aldous Huxley.
