I'm wondering if anybdy knows where Giuliani stands on illegal immigration. In 08 I'll vote for whoever is tougher on illegal immigration because we need to secure our borders. Thanks!

He was on Hannity (I think), and spoke about his experience with illegal immigration in NYC. To paraphrase, he estimated that there were about 400,000 illegals in NYC, and the city had caught about 1,500-2,000 to turn over to the INS. It still left an extremely large number to deal with.

Some points he favored:

1. Those illegals who committed crimes go to the front of the line for deportation.

2. He favored tightening the border. If I remember correctly, he spoke of doing it technologically as opposed to a physical wall.

3. He also spoke of some sort of mechanism for naturalizing those who were already here, but did not state a lot of details other than "They've gotta learn English."

I'm sure the question will come up again, so stay tuned.

Rudy: But you've got to take a practical approach to it. There are 12 million illegals in this country. We got to stop illegals from coming in. And a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security that's needed to do that.

Interview with him, but he spoke mostly about what he was forced to do when mayor because the fed gov wouldn't do anything about it.
