I want to buy a computer system, including a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer, for a boy's family who lives in Peru. I live in America and can't fly down there to buy one. I need some names of reputable computer stores that have locations ideally all over Peru, because I don't know which city he lives in, and I need price ranges for a system already loaded with Spanish Windows. What I would basically do is try to get a quote from a computer store, and then send the money to this boy with the information about where his father or mother could purchase it. Could anyone please help me?

Find out the city because lots of areas in Peru don't have access to large stores like here, only large cities. If he's in Lima (the capital), you can order from http://www.hiraoka.com.pe/ it's a very large widely known electronic store. Other than that you should consider buying it here (maybe order from a Miami store - they have spanish) and ship it down there. It's probably cheaper

There are a number of computer stores in LIma. Near the central part of LIma there are a number of large stores that deal in used computers. Internet cafes are everywhere and are cheap 60 cents an hour. All over Peru. I do not know how well you know this boy but I would NOT, NO NUNCA send this boy any money for a computer because like I said there are cheap internet cafes all over Peru. I would say there is a 98% chance this money would not go for a computer.

If you buy your computer in Peru you'll find that the key boards are differant than in the U.S. There are extra keys for the spanish language. First time I went to an interent cafe in SA I was very confused with the setup. If you comprehend spanish you'll have no trouble. If you don't buy one in the US and take it with you

you can find the best prices in internet of computers here: http://www.terra.com.pe/especiales/pcperu/ This is a program called "PC Peru Program" where the goverment plus alliances with private investors, give a very special prices in computers to all peruvians.
there are a lot of links. here a few of them:

If you don't know the family, is better that you buy the computer and send it to them than just send the money.
I hope this information helps you.

If you look for it online it is hard you will find good deals on it. The good deals appear in newspapers, specially on sundays. http://www.leafar.com.pe is a store with high reputation, however there is a chance that it will be overpriced compared to what you can find in other stores down there.

There's an internet server in Latin America called TERRA, it's kinda like our Yahoo here. You can go to their "compras" section, it should be pretty reliable. I have the link up there for you. If that doesn't work, try going to their home page http://www.terra.com.pe/

Good luck!
