Don't have it at home--or at anyone else's house--it's a special birthday, so go all out:
Rent a hall and decorate it. Have a band or a DJ. Have some organized things to do, but some free play, too. If you think your friends would like it, make it a 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, heck 20s party--and have the people dress in what was worn in those days.

Rod Stewart, journey, Eagles, Bon Jovi - something exciting and kick back song smart. Do manicures and pedicures - when you consume/drink tea - that's a stunning thank you to pamper your self and could take up time without doing cheesy video games lol or watch classic video clips after your tea (long gone with the Wind, Cassablanca, something with elizabeth taylor or audrey hepburn will artwork)

Decorate your house, invite some friends over, tell everybody to bring a cd, dvd or video games for entertainment, take lots of funny photo's, put out lots of snacks, drinks and then ... Have some cake and eat it too!
Everybody likes to get together and have a laugh, so whether you stay at home or go out, have a good time!
