this picture used to be on Wikipedia as the one defining the color of hazel eyes. It was later changed to one of a much greener eye, so i am left with the doubt, is that considered hazel?

It does not look hazel to me. Hazel eyes will kind of change color if you wear certain colors.

I would not call that photo a hazel eye, more golden brown to green. hazel is blue to green, people with hazel eyes if wearing a blue shirt, their eyes will look more blue, if wearing a green shirt, their eyes will look more green. we have the advantage of changing our eye color by changing the color of our cloths and we do not have to use contact colors to do it
